Tragically, the single known copy is incomplete. The frontispiece and the first sixteen pages are missing, meaning we do not know the book's exact original title or its precise place of publication. It is speculated that the book may have been placed on the Catholic Church's Index Librorum Prohibitorum (List of Prohibited Books), which would have led to the systematic destruction of all copies, making the sole survivor a rare and priceless artifact.

Gjon Buzuku was a Catholic clergyman living in the Venetian-influenced village of Livari (near modern-day Bar, Montenegro). During the mid-16th century, the Ottoman Empire controlled much of the Balkans, and Catholic printing presses were rare.
