Russia began a full-scale invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022, in an escalation of the Russo-Ukrainian War that began in 2014. The invasion is the largest conventional military attack on a sovereign state in Europe since World War II. Since the beginning of Putin's war, thousands of both Ukraine and Russian citizens have been killed. Russian military have indiscriminately bombed cities in Ukraine, destroying many hospitals and schools. Our heart goes out to the 2.7 million plus refugees that have left Ukraine for neighboring countries, and those who stayed to fight the Russian invaders.

YAGio - Yagi Design by W8IO
YAGio 1.01 is the most current released version. YAGio runs under Windows 2000, XP, Vista, Win 7 and likely Win 8. YAGio is similar to LPCAD, it uses keyboard commands instead of a mouse menu. YAGio allows you to create DL6WU long Yagi antennas on any frequency, typically on VHF and UHF ham frequencies. You specify the frequency, desired gain, type of element to boom mounting, DE diameter and parasitic element diameter, and YAGio does the rest. You can save these designs in 5 different formats - YIO (used by YAGio), NEC (used by 4NEC2), YAG (YO), MMA (MMANA-GAL) and YC6 (used by YagiCAD). You can also print the results to your Windows default printer. Please email me at rgcox2 (at) gmail.com if you find bugs or to suggest improvements. YAGio.exe version 1.01 was created on 6-10-2015 at 12:39 pm. The exe file size is 221K. You may download YAGio101.ZIP here.
I am currently working on YAGio 1.02. I will also add file export support for 4 bay NEC models.
I like to use 4NEC2 to evaluate my Yagi models. It is a very nice, full featured version of NEC2. You can find the latest version of 4NEC2 here:http://www.qsl.net/4nec2
You can also find a faster NEC2 "engine" for 4NEC2. (web site currently unavailable) The NEC2/MP "engine" will speed up computation tremendously in dual and quad core PC's. A model that took 60 seconds to run in 4NEC2's existing computation engine should complete under 25 seconds using the NEC2/MP engine in a dual core CPU and under 12 seconds in a quad core CPU.
Here are a couple screen shots from YAGio 1.0 running in Win 7:

Manufacturers and network carriers keep baseband firmware closed-source for three main reasons: 1. Intellectual Property Protection
: In a significant move, Google has added a Rust-based DNS parser to the Pixel 10 modem's firmware to harden it against memory safety vulnerabilities—the root cause of many baseband exploits. This approach aims to block attacks without needing a full rewrite of the legacy codebase.
. This software is often described as "secret" because it is highly proprietary, closed-source, and operates independently from the main operating system (like Android or iOS). ACM Digital Library
Manufacturers now include baseband updates in standard OTA (Over-the-Air) system updates. Keeping your phone updated is your first line of defense.
The term secret firmware refers to undocumented commands, debug interfaces, and update mechanisms baked into the baseband during manufacturing. These are not bugs; they are deliberate features left active in production hardware. gsm secret firmware
Securing the mobile ecosystem requires shifting away from complete secrecy toward architectural isolation and open hardware exploration. Hardware Isolation (IOMMU)

The world of GSM secret firmware is a stark reminder that our mobile phones are far more complex—and vulnerable—than they appear. The most critical takeaway for you, the user, is to be proactive about your security:
If you need a specific hidden function on your phone (e.g., field test mode), search for or carrier-approved engineering menus —these are often already present but hidden. Keeping your phone updated is your first line of defense
In an age where digital privacy is paramount, the phrase invokes images of espionage, covert surveillance, and backdoors hidden deep within our mobile devices. While the term is often sensationalized in thriller movies, it refers to a very real, highly technical, and often overlooked aspect of mobile security: the baseband processor.
This chip runs the user-facing operating system, such as Android or iOS. It handles the user interface, applications, cameras, and general computing tasks.
: The industry standard for flashing firmware to MediaTek (MTK) based GSM devices.
: It typically requires older "bridge" phones (like the Motorola C115/C118) that use the Calypso chipset, as modern smartphones have highly encrypted, locked-down basebands. Capabilities making it unbootable.
Evidence from leaked documents (such as those from Edward Snowden and the "GSM Interception" presentations) and independent reverse-engineering (e.g., the OsmocomBB project) reveals several common secret capabilities:
Accessing these firmware versions can be challenging. Many are tightly controlled by manufacturers due to intellectual property concerns, potential security risks, or the desire to maintain a consistent user experience across their devices.
While consumers obsess over iOS versus Android updates, a secondary, highly proprietary software layer operates quietly beneath the surface. It manages your connection to the cellular network, controls the device radio, and holds absolute power over your phone's hardware. What is GSM Secret Firmware?
Welcome to the hidden world of the .
: Flashing the wrong firmware version (e.g., trying to flash a US firmware on a European model) can "brick" the device, making it unbootable.
