In 1967, John Form gifts his pregnant wife, Mia, a rare vintage porcelain doll. One night, their neighbors (the Higgins) are murdered by their estranged daughter, Annabelle Higgins, and her boyfriend, both members of a satanic cult. Annabelle dies in the Forms' nursery while holding the doll, and a drop of her blood falls into the doll’s eye, allowing a demonic entity to enter it.
